Upcoming math tests

On Wednesday we will be taking the math Unit 2 test which covers addition and subtraction.  This is a test on strategies, not speed.  Based on our recent quiz and the students' performance in class I know that they are ready.  Following the Unit 2 test we will be preparing for our Trimester 1 math assessment, which will be given on Monday the 10th.  We have only studied two units of math this trimester, Unit 1 covered graphing and Unit 2 of course is addition and subtraction.  There's nothing extra your child needs to do to prepare other than sleep well, eat breakfast before the tests, and remember to CHECK THEIR WORK for every problem.  They all know how to solve these types of problems, the trouble comes when they become over confident and try to solve problems only with mental math instead of showing their work every time.  I will send the results of these tests home and we will review them further at conferences next month.
